When I'm Not Reading Comics

You may be wondering to yourself if I have any hobbies other than comic books. As a matter of fact, I do. I just chose not to blog about my other hobbies until now (today happens to be an incredibly slow day in comic book news). TV is another big thing for me. With it being summertime, there aren't too many shows to watch now. I thought I found something I could watch all summer in Fox's new show, Glee. Too bad last week's showing was just a teaser to the Fall premiere.

I know what you're thinking. Glee? That sounds either gay or lame. It's actually a really smart and fresh comedy. The show kind of makes fun of all the new high school musical shows by having kids think they'll be popular by singing in musicals only to be picked on like all the dorky kids you saw in the high school teenager movies you watched growing up. Glee sort of bridges the new popular high school movies with the old popular high school movies....in a TV format. I like making fun of people and getting made fun of; and that's pretty much what this show is about. There is also a lot of good ol' fashion dark humor. Jane Lynch plays a high school cheerleader coach who threatens to waterboard her girls and brags about using her iPhone. Hilarious stuff. Check it out on Hulu.

For right now, at least I have the NBA playoffs to watch. After a lackluster start, they are incredible now. Every game of the Conference Finals has been tight and worrisome. I'm a huge proponent of a Lebron and Kobe Championship showdown and the Magic are proving to be a serious threat in the East. Here's hoping the Cavs can get back on track tonight on TNT.

Speaking of TNT, that is the only network that should broadcast basketball games. Every member of their team works so well together providing insight and humor. I love watching Ernie try to get Charles and Kenny back focusing on their analyses after they've been making fun of each other. While writing this very blog, Charles is trying to prove he can still play basketball and Kenny is letting him know that he looks like a fool. I'll miss you guys when the Eastern Conference Finals are over. ESPN basketball sucks.

  2. I'm a man of my word and Glee was worth giving a shout-out to. You're like the 4th person to say that about my picture. I've been meaning to change it for a while.
