Secret Warriors #4

Have you been watching Lost lately? The season finale was awesome, right? Remember the episode before it where everyone just said what they were going to do for the season finale? That's what this issue of Secret Warriors is like.

Playing the role of Jack is Nick Fury. Both set off to plan for an insane mission and recruit the help of an old friend, Sayid and Dum Dum Dugan, to accomplish it. Unlike Jack though, Fury is the good kind of arrogant jerk. He actually understands what's going on and can accurately argue his point, even using Enron comparisons. At the end of the issue, he has probably the coolest line in all of comics. I literally said, "Oh that is awesome," after reading it.

Kate is best represented by Daisy. She searches for a recruit to help fight Hydra the same way Kate seeks out Sawyer to help her stop Jack from being the stupid arrogant jerk that he is (sorry, I hate Jack). This part seems out of place to me. The team is brand new. Why do they have to shake things up already? I don't even know every member's name yet. The new guy is a little lame too. I guess he was supposed to be some kind of comedic relief, but nope. Not funny. Also, the Secret Warriors are all tied together because they are related to someone who used to have powers. This guy better have that link too if he's going to be on the team.

Phobos and that rebellious guy (told you I didn't know their names) search for Fury's secrets the same way Locke and Ben search for Jacob's secrets. This part was pretty cool. I like seeing the team interacting with each other. The dinner scene in the second issue was really nicely written and it's similar to Phobos's and Hellfire's (I looked it up) search.

I liked this issue despite its set-up status. After all, I am comparing it to one of TV's best shows. Secret Warriors #4 provides some awesome Nick Fury moments and a little more insight into the team members. The teaser written on the final page hints at a huge battle coming up. If it's only a tenth as awesome as Lost's finale, Secret Warriors #5 will be one great issue.
