As I said, the best thing about this series is its character work on Mockingbird. In the only other series we see her in, Brian Bendis writes her as Hawkeye's weak and confused wife. She always sits by his side asking him what's going on and reminding everyone, with a smile, that she's been gone for years. Quite honestly, she's a pretty annoying and pointless character in Bendis's story.
Thankfully Jim McCann was given this series to provide a character study on Mockingbird. He writes her as a cool super spy. She's stealthy, great at gathering intel, a strategist, and...troubled. Yes, he actually has her deal with her past instead of just say she has one. Her time as a prisoner on Skrull World still haunts her, even if she terrorized them just as much as they did her (very cool part of the story, by the way).
Mockingbird's feelings about Hawkeye are confusing to her too. She planned on getting a divorce before being captured, but he's all she thought about while held prisoner. McCann makes seeing Hawkeye again both good and bad for her. Mockingbird obviously still loves him but can't forget that they had problems before.
David Lopez's art is very effective. His characters are proportionate and crisp. The panels on Skrull World are particularly effective. Perspective and lighting are nicely used to provide a cat-and-mouse and thrilling atmosphere.
The Reunion is the only place you can find a proper Mockingbird. The way she's depicted in New Avengers is a travesty. I hope Bendis takes some tips from McCann in characterizing her after this series is over and maybe even change her costume from that ridiculous, outdated one she wears in New Avengers.
