24/7 has been a pretty funny story. Spider-Man is staying up and fighting crime nonstop not because it's the right thing to do, but to piss Jameson off. All of this was introduced last issue, however. This issue, while amusing, just seems like space-filler.
Mark Waid doesn't write anything substantial this week. Everyone is doing the same things they were doing the last time I read Spider-Man, including Aunt May (if you know what I mean ::nudge nudge::). The only new thing to come from this issue is the appearance of the new grotesque Vulture. This guy is lame. So far, he just flies and looks ugly. The new Vulture seems suited to be a villain of the Falcon (or Black Falcon as my friend calls him during Freudian slips).
Even though nothing new goes down in this issue, it is by no means bad. Most of Spider-Man's crime fighting choices are very amusing. He chooses to silence a cell phone talker, direct traffic, and make umbrellas for people in need. Also, he thankfully takes down Jameson's crew easily. They're regular people. They shouldn't be a match for Spider-Man. While funny, I still wish Waid delved more into the girl secretly taking care of Peter's place while he was gone. Who is she?!
Mike McKone's pencils are adequate. Nothing mind blowing in this issue but his panels are clear and pretty. Action is easy to follow. There is a little more dude-nudity than I care to see, though.
All in all, this issue was an enjoyable read. Some funny moments and nice art helped but I still wanted more. Next issue should be better. Spider-Man will have a new foe to face and hopefully some new story threads will be explored.
